General facts
The natural park is located in Cabárceno, Pisueña Valley, 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Santander and it's a naturalized space reclaimed from 750 hectares (1,900 acres) of a former open pit mine. The natural park is home to a hundred animal species from five continents living in semi-free conditions, which are distributed in large enclosures where one or more species coexist.
High season entrance fee for an adult rounds up to 24,00 € and 14,00 € for a child.

Personal opinion
I would rate this experience the best experience in a wildlife park. After visiting this wonderful park you think this is the right way to set up a zoo, this is how all zoos in the world should look like: wide open spaces where you can literally admire the mighty elephants walking peacefully along with other animals from the same environment; huge spaces where more than 30 brown bears and their cubs play and run freely; great wild cats lounging in the sun; gorillas, giraffes, lynxes, hippos, rhynos, lamas... curious ostriches investigating your backpack, farm animals... there are so many animals happily living there that trust me one single day seems not enough time to calmly visit the whole park by car!
My recommendation
Choose a sunny day to visit this park.
Get there before 9:00 am, even though the park opens at 9:30 am in summer there's a long car queue that you really don't want to experience, trust me.
Take some food with you as there are plenty of places where you can have a picnic on the soft green grass there. On the other hand you have the option to drive out of the park for lunch and return later or simply enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants inside the park. Prices not as expensive as expected but too crowded at lunchtime for our taste.
