General facts
The biggest attraction in Cordoba and a truly must-see building, the Mezquita is a massive former mosque-turned-cathedral famed for its "forest" of columns topped with Islamic-style red and white striped arches among its other many architectural highlights and serves as a reminder of the glory and importance Cordoba held in medieval times. The historic quarter of Cordoba is a beautiful network of small streets, alleys, squares and whitewashed courtyards arranged around the Mezquita. Cordoba is probably most famous for its magnificent flower-filled patios, with their annual open-doors-festival-contest in May.
Personal opinion
Cordoba is a lovely old city, its charming historic centre with cobbled, winding streets replete with restaurants, markets and giftshops is truly enchanting. We totally recommend it as it has much to offer from its vastly rich cultural and historical heritage, its colorful patios full of flowers and even fountains, all by itself gives you that feeling of a never ending love story!
My recommendation
Provide yourself with comfortable shoes and a hat against the strong sun. Take your time and pop into any one of the gorgeous cool patios for a refreshing drink. There is much to see and explore.
Straight into the heart of the city a lovely hotel with an even lovlier patio awaits its travelers. Read my full review here: Hotel Los Patios.
